CVS/pharmacy Raising Funds for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital(R) Thanks and Giving(R) Campaign to Support Expanded Rehabilitation Services Center
Date:11/24/2008

WOONSOCKET, R.I., Nov. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- CVS/pharmacy will be participating in the fifth year of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Thanks and Giving campaign, which will run nationwide in CVS/pharmacy locations through December 13. CVS/pharmacy store colleagues will encourage customers to add $1 to their purchase at the register to support the lifesaving research of St. Jude, one of the world's premier centers for the research and treatment of pediatric cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases. In the first four years of the campaign, CVS/pharmacy and its customers raised nearly $8 million for the hospital.

Funds raised by CVS/pharmacy for Thanks and Giving will support the CVS Caremark All Kids Can Rehabilitation Services Center at St. Jude. Children with catastrophic diseases like cancer may develop developmental, cognitive or physical impairments as a result of their illnesses as well as the treatments used to save their lives. The new facility, which is expected to open in the summer of 2009, will double the current space dedicated to providing audiology, occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech-language pathology services to St. Jude patients.

"At St. Jude, providing first-class patient care extends beyond medical treatments needed to save the lives of children battling cancer and other deadly diseases," said Marlo Thomas, National Outreach Director for St. Jude. "St. Jude treats the whole child and that includes the care needed to ensure that every patient will enjoy the highest quality of life possible. In fact, that is the mission of the hospital's Rehabilitation Services department, which provides comprehensive care and rehabilitation for infants, children and teenagers."

"We are thrilled to help the children and families served by St. Jude," said Eileen Howard Dunn, Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications and Community Relations, CVS Caremark. "Throu
