Lee Woodruff, Alma Powell and others join the search for ten women to be
honored for their stories of caring submitted to
WOONSOCKET, R.I., Dec. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Today CVS/pharmacy announced the latest addition to its For All the Ways You Care campaign with a newly formed advisory panel. The panel, comprised of leading American women whose own lives and work embody the spirit of caring that is at the core of this new campaign, will join together in the search for ten women to be honored for their caregiving efforts in their own families and communities.
Led by Lee Woodruff, author and the wife of ABC News Correspondent and Anchor Bob Woodruff, the panel includes other prominent women with a commitment to caring: Alma Powell, chair of America's Promise Alliance and wife of Colin Powell, women's health experts Dr. Donnica Moore and Dr. Alice Domar, and Ladies' Home Journal Editor-in-Chief, Diane Salvatore.
As members of the new advisory board, the panelists will post their own personal caregiving story at the campaign website, http://www.ForAllTheWaysYouCare.com, and participate in a variety of campaign related activities to encourage and advise women to take care of themselves and feel proud of the work they're doing everyday to care for and support those around them.
The panelists demonstrate a commitment to caring for and by women in many ways. For example Lee Woodruff, recently co-authored the best-selling In an Instant, which has garnered critical acclaim for the compelling and humorous chronicle of her family's journey to recovery following her husband Bob's roadside bomb injury in Iraq. Appearing together on national television and radio since the February 2007 publication of their book, Woodruff and her husband have helped put a face on the serious issue of traumatic brain injury among returning Iraq war veterans.
"I am honored to be part of this wonderful campaign in the company of other inspirational women," said Woodruff. "Our family has received so much caring from others and we are privileged to work with so many caring individuals in our philanthropic work. Caring is demonstrated in ways large and small, and we look forward to hearing from women across the country about their experiences."
The panel will review stories submitted to the site and select the ten stories that most exemplify a dedication and devotion to caring. CVS/pharmacy will honor those 10 people at a luncheon and luxury weekend in New York City in early 2008. One individual will receive $25,000 and nine others will receive $10,000 from CVS/pharmacy in appreciation for their commitment to caring.
"We are thrilled to announce our partnership with these leading women," said Heidi Devlin, vice president of advertising at CVS/pharmacy. "Their work on behalf of women, families, and communities truly exemplifies the caring spirit that we at CVS/pharmacy believe is so important. We are inspired by their stories and look forward to hearing more examples of caring from women across America."
CVS/pharmacy has already received hundreds of submissions of stories about caring. The stories honor spouses, parents, siblings, children, friends and neighbors, revealing the challenges and rewards of caregiving and providing inspiration to others.
