Center to Provide Significant Workplace Advancement Opportunities for the Boston Community, Including Individuals from Disadvantaged Backgrounds
BOSTON, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Today CVS Caremark, in partnership with Jewish Vocational Service and their One-Stop Career Center, officially opened the company's first CVS/pharmacy Regional Learning Center in Boston. CVS Caremark and JVS share a similar goal, to empower disadvantaged individuals from diverse communities to find employment and build careers. JVS will provide pre- and post-employment services to trainees, while CVS Caremark will provide a corporate learning center to hire and develop associates.
The Regional Learning Center houses classrooms and a mock CVS/pharmacy store -- complete with a state-of-art pharmacy, photo lab and beauty center -- to train new and current associates, from entry level to management. In 2008, CVS Caremark and JVS aim to train more than 3,000 new and current employees at this center, providing significant workplace advancement opportunities for the Boston community. A portion of these trainees will be welfare-to-work participants as well as refugees.
