Civil Justice Foundation Breakfast of Champions
Room: Continental 5, on Ballroom Level
333 O'Farrell Street
San Francisco, CA 94102
Fresh off powerful testimony in front of a key U.S. Senate committee, a former health insurance executive turned whistleblower will give a speech at the Civil Justice Foundation's annual Breakfast of Champions. In the speech, Potter will relate his reasons for going public, urge new accountability of the industry he once worked for, and warn of the political power of insurance companies in the current health reform debate in Washington D.C.
Potter will tell the story of one prominent CIGNA patient -- Nataline Sarkisyan -- whose death after CIGNA delayed a needed kidney transplant was a catalyst to Potter's decision to blow the whistle on the health insurance industry.
Potter will call for national reform requiring insurance companies to be more honest about the fine print of their policies and providing new legal accountability over the industry.
Potter will receive the Civil Justice Foundation's Community Champion Award.
