ST PAUL, Minn., Aug. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The CHS Foundation announced today that it has provided initial funding to launch the Ralph K. Morris Foundation's new Elroy Webster Cooperative Studies Fund, a program which provides a scholarship and honorary award to graduate and law students interested in agriculture and cooperatives.
The scholarship program was created in memory of Elroy Webster, a Minnesota farmer and CHS leader who helped drive historic joint ventures and mergers of U.S. agricultural cooperatives. Webster established the well-respected CHS New Leader Program for farmers and ranchers, created a grant-based funding program for cooperative, agricultural and rural development projects through the CHS Foundation; and was actively involved in a wide range of organizations including FFA, Agriculture Future of America, the Ralph K. Morris Scholarship Foundation and the Agriculture Council of America.
"Elroy Webster was one of the most influential figures in agriculture and cooperatives in the last half century," said William Nelson, president, CHS Foundation. "We're proud to help launch this new scholarship program in memory of Elroy's dedication and leadership to CHS and commitment to the future of agriculture and cooperatives."
The Elroy Webster Cooperative Studies Fund will help cover costs associated with tuition, fees, books, supplies or equipment for graduate or law students enrolled in agricultural or cooperative classes or those who demonstrate a high level of interest in these fields. Application forms and additional details can be found on the Ralph K. Morris Foundation website (http://www.ralphkmorrisfoundation.org).
