Date:6/21/2013

Albany, NY (PRWEB) June 21, 2013

When health plans and health systems work together, they can improve patient outcomes, provide quality care and control costs. With programs such as Medication Therapy Management (MTM), pharmacists play an ever-expanding role in this partnership.

Eileen F. Wood, RPh, MBA, vice president, pharmacy and health quality programs, CDPHP®, recently joined a panel of industry experts to discuss how to expand such programs to achieve the Triple Aim of better health and better care at a lower cost.

Wood was one of the featured speakers at America’s Health Insurance Plans Institute 2013 conference held in Las Vegas. She discussed how the changing world of health care can benefit from these collaborative efforts.

With more than 30 years of experience as a pharmacist and health care industry leader, Wood plays in integral role in the CDPHP mission of providing greater access to high-quality, affordable health care. She is responsible for the pharmacy benefit, clinical pharmacy programs, health care performance management, and quality management teams.

Prior to joining CDPHP in 2005, Wood served as vice president of clinical services and director of pharmacy services for Seton Health System in Troy, N.Y. She began her career in an independent community pharmacy, and has had experience in the management of clinical areas including oncology, surgery, laboratory, cardiopulmonary care, and medical imaging. She is licensed as a pharmacist in New York.
