Date:7/28/2009

ISLANDIA, N.Y., July 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CA, Inc. (Nasdaq: CA) today announced that Tom Boyle, CA vice president, market development has been elected to represent CA on the Board of Directors of Continua Health Alliance. The non-profit Continua Health Alliance has more than 200 leading healthcare and technology company members. Its mission is to develop a global system of interoperable personal remote health monitoring solutions that fosters independence and empowers people and organizations to better manage health and wellness.

"Election to the Board of Directors demonstrates CA's commitment to technology innovation in rapidly growing sectors such as healthcare," said Boyle. "We are honored to be part of such a committed coalition of healthcare and technology leaders dedicated to improving the quality of personal healthcare."

As the costs and complexity of healthcare continue to escalate, there is growing interest in applying sophisticated information technology techniques and tools to help the healthcare industry automate some of its standard methods of care. In addition, extending the ability to access information while away from the traditional clinical setting can provide an opportunity to reduce healthcare costs and improve the patient experience. Commonly referred to as "connected health," this deployment of IT addressable assets on the edge of the network presents new market opportunities for CA.

CA recognizes that standards such as those being fostered by Continua member companies are fundamental to accelerating device interoperability. This will help enable the data aggregation necessary for the advanced analytic and processing capabilities needed for "connected health" to realize its full potential. As with any large enterprise IT infrastructure deployment,
