C8 Sciences’ Activate Brain Training Program Receives Blue Ribbon Designation From IBCCES
Date:12/5/2013

New Haven, CT (PRWEB) December 05, 2013

Connecticut-based C8 Sciences has received the coveted Blue Ribbon designation from the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) for its ACTIVATE™ brain cross-training program. ACTIVATE represents a fusion between computer-oriented and physical exercises, designed to assist in the battle against Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and working memory. C8 Sciences and its ACTIVATE™ program aren’t unused to receiving prestigious awards; during its development at Yale School of Medicine, the program was awarded a National Institute of Health (NIH) Director’s Office Grant as a “paradigm-changing advancement in medicine.” To win the $4 million NIH grant, ACTIVATE™ had to beat out over 500 game-changing medical innovations including several cures for cancer and other infectious diseases.

The ACTIVATE™ protocol focuses on enhancing a student’s executive function skills to help make learning natural for children with Autism, ADHD and other learning disorders, combining an innovative computer program along with physical exercises. A recently-implemented new version of ACTIVATE™ works on virtually any device including the iPad and Kindle Fire and boasts a new “gameplay” experience that keeps kids engaged while challenging their ability to sustain attention. While students are gaming, they are constantly assessed by imbedded NIH cognitive assessments that feed real-time data back to the teacher or clinician to monitor their progress in developing critical executive function skills.

ACTIVATE™ is currently deployed in nearly 100 school districts across the United States, with C8 Sciences boasting research sites for the program in Brazil, China, Canada and Africa.

The IBCCES Blue Ribbon designation is a rare and coveted recognition awarded to research-based, game-changing products and services for children with special needs. IBCCES Blue Ribbon products and services are used by special education teachers, licensed mental health professionals and paraprofessionals all over the world who educate and treat children with such needs, with special emphasis placed on how to help ADHD students in the classroom.

“We are extremely proud of the Blue Ribbon designation we received from IBCCES,” states C8 Sciences CEO Ken Coleman. “This verifies yet again that ACTAVATE™ is a game-changing program for children with ADHD and Autism and that C8 is dedicated to teaching students with ADHD.”

“Since ADHD is one of the most common associated symptoms of Autism, we are excited to have a Blue Ribbon program that enhances executive function skills – brain training – and lessens the impact of ADHD in the classroom,” adds Lyndsey Herrman, CEO of IBCCES. "We will always be dedicated to addressing how to help ADHD students in the classroom."
