C.R. Bard Transvaginal Mesh Lawsuit News: Bernstein Liebhard LLP Notes Issuance of New Orders in New Jersey C.R. Bard Vaginal Mesh Litigation

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 14, 2013

Transvaginal mesh lawsuit claims involving products manufactured by C.R. Bard, Inc. continue to move forward in a consolidated litigation underway in New Jersey’s Atlantic County Superior Court, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports. According to court records, an Amended Bellwether Scheduling Order was issued by Superior Court Judge Carol E. Higbee on May 31st that, among other things, sets forth a schedule for the depositions of expert witnesses in the litigation’s bellwether cases. According to the Order, the first trial of a C.R. Bard vaginal mesh lawsuit will begin on September 23, 2013. Bernstein Liebhard LLP partner, Jeffrey S. Grand, is serving as Co-Liaison Counsel in this litigation. “We are pleased to see the litigation surrounding transvaginal mesh claims moving forward, as we continue to hear from women who suffered serious vaginal mesh complications, allegedly due to transvaginal mesh products manufactured by C.R. Bard and others,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm continues to offer free transvaginal mesh lawsuit consultations to women who allegedly suffered serious complications following implantation of devices manufactured by C.R. Bard, Inc., as well as American Medical Systems, Inc., Ethicon, Inc. and Boston Scientific Corp.

Transvaginal Mesh Lawsuits
Court filings show that 550 C.R. Bard vaginal mesh lawsuits were pending in Atlantic County Superior Court as of June 8, 2013. All of the lawsuits allege that transvaginal mesh products marketed by C.R. Bard caused plaintiffs to suffer serious complications, and accuse the company of failing to provide adequate warnings about their risks. Court documents further indicate that more than 2,900 transvaginal mesh lawsuits involving products marketed by Johnson & Johnson’s Ethicon unit are also pending in a second consolidated litigation underway in Atlantic County. In March, the first trial in the Ethicon litigation concluded with a jury awarding more than $11 million in compensatory and punitive damages to a woman who suffered injuries due to the Gynecare ProLift transvaginal mesh product. Bernstein Liebhard LLP partner, Jeffry S. Grand, who is also serving as Co-Liaison Counsel in the Ethicon litigation, was a member of the Plaintiff’s trial team. C.R. Bard is named in hundreds of additional transvaginal mesh lawsuits that have been consolidated in a multidistrict litigation in U.S. District Court, Southern District of West Virginia. (In re: C.R. Bard, Inc., Pelvic Repair Systems Products Liability Litigation - MDL No. 2187) Mr. Grand also serves on the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee in this proceeding, and in three other litigations also pending in the Southern District of West Virginia: In re: American Medical Systems, Inc., Pelvic Repair Systems Products Liability Litigation - MDL No. 2325; In re: Boston Scientific Corp., Pelvic Repair Systems Products Liability Litigation - MDL No. 2326; and In re: Ethicon, Inc. Pelvic Repair Systems Products Liability Litigation - MDL No. 2327. The first federal trial of a transvaginal mesh lawsuit is scheduled to begin on July 8 in the C.R. Bard multidistrict litigation, according to court records.
