Bupa Combines Travel Insurance and Medical Cover in New Option for Pacific Prime Clients

(PRWEB) July 30, 2013

Pacific Prime is eagerly awaiting the launch of the Bupa Flex plan, a new option for PPI clients that cleverly mixes the best elements of short-term travel insurance and long-term renewable medical cover. Pacific Prime analysts believe that the Flex plan can potentially fill the gap in the market where annual medical plans are considered too expensive and travel plans are considered too basic.

With expatriate communities growing in various locations across the globe, the option for short-term travel insurance and medical cover will undoubtedly be welcomed, especially by those who are in the interim of moving to a different job or to a different country.

Those who have experienced expatriate living understand that annual renewable policies have several advantages over the medical cover from travel insurance. For example, in many cases, travel plans cannot accept new clients who have lived outside their home country in the past. At the same time, it can be very costly for a client to buy a year's worth of insurance when only a few months of coverage is needed.

While a travel plan does cover the client to a certain extent, if non-emergency treatment is required, most travel insurance will only cover the cost of sending the client back to their home country, not the cost of the treatment itself. Furthermore, there is a risk that the client will be flown home only to realize that they're not actually eligible for treatment in their home country either. Having to travel internationally for treatment is not only expensive, but it also creates unnecessary hassle for the client, especially considering that the treatment likely could have been done in the foreign country if the client had the right insurance plan.

Bupa's new Flex plan is expected to be well-received by PPI clients who require interim cover or those looking for a more comprehensive style of cover for short term travel. Pacific Prime analysts are positive that the plan will find success in the section of the market that requires both travel insurance and medical cover.
