Grassroots Organization Formed to Identify, Develop and Empower Local

Leaders; John Crowley to serve as Honorary Chairman

PRINCETON, N.J., June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Building the New Majority is a new organization in New Jersey created to build a grassroots network across the state to identify, develop and empower local candidates. The primary focus of Building the New Majority will be the development of local, county and statewide candidates. The group will work in tandem with other statewide and local organizations in order to help create an opportunity to restore transparency, accountability and responsibility to all levels of government in New Jersey. Bill Spadea will serve as the new organization's president, managing the fundraising and grassroots operation as well as leading the candidate recruitment effort. Spadea is a real estate executive who was nominated to run for U.S. Congress in 2004. Through his strong grassroots effort he was ranked 17th out of 157 challengers nationwide. Spadea served as a surrogate speaker for the past two statewide GOP nominees and Rudy Giuliani's presidential bid.

John Crowley will serve as the organization's honorary chairman. He had been courted to enter the race for the U.S. Senate this year by several state and national party leaders, including U.S. Senator John McCain. Crowley is the president and CEO of Amicus Therapeutics, Inc. based in Cranbury, NJ. His involvement with the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries stems from the diagnosis of two of his children with Pompe disease, a rare form of muscular dystrophy. Crowley, his wife Aileen and their children live in Princeton, NJ.
