BuildYourEMR Helps Missouri Cancer Registry Solve Physician Reporting Challenge
Date:7/9/2013

OFallon, MO (PRWEB) July 09, 2013

Missouri Cancer Registry and Research Center (MCR-ARC) is one of the two state cancer registries in the country to be funded as part of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Comparative Effectiveness Research activities through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for a Special Project to help physician practices report cancer data directly to the Central Cancer Registry. BuildYourEMR™ helped Missouri Cancer Registry give a LIVE demonstration at North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR) Annual Conference showing Real-Time reporting of cancer data by the Physician to the MCR-ARC. This was made possible with BuildYourEMR’s unique "One-Click Submit" to Registry feature.

“Our goal was to make this very simple for physicians so they are encouraged to submit data to their State Central Cancer Registry in compliance with state reporting requirements. Once this button is clicked, the cancer report is packaged into a standard C-CDA format, encrypted using the Direct Project protocols, and emailed to the registry. At the registry side, their Direct Project-enabled workstation receives the email, uses the Direct Project system to decrypt and verify the signature before saving it in their inbox. Future versions will automatically extract these files to the directory where the registry software will automatically process the incoming files. Once the file was saved, the MCR-ARC team imported this using eMaRC Plus®, a product of CDC's Registry Plus software suite. The whole process took less than 60 seconds from the time the physician clicked the Send Button until the time the record was shown in eMaRC Plus®.” explains Dr. Pawan Jindal – Technology Evangelist of BuildYourEMR

BuildYourEMR™?was certified by?InfoGard?for the ONC-ACB Electronic Health Record program for the Meaningful Use 2014 requirements on?Jun 6, 2013. With this certification, BuildYourEMR became one of the few vendors that offer 2014 Certified Modules for Cancer Registry reporting.

"BuildYourEMR was willing to work with us at the Central Registry and the Physician to build the record the way he (physician) wanted it and let the physician control it and push the button. The advantage to the physician is: It is super simple. The advantage to us is: We only deal with one record per patient per primary. This has been really exciting to do a LIVE demonstration using cancer data and to bring it in through Direct transport mechanism" says Dr. Jeannette Jackson-Thompson, Director of MCR-ARC. To understand the true significance of this One-Click Submit to Cancer Registry capability and how it benefits the physicians who report to the registry and to the patients, watch Dr. Jackson-Thompson's complete video interview.

“Making data submission to state registries and Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) super easy for our physicians will encourage adoption and result in more timely and complete cancer incidence data for public health surveillance and research. This will ultimately lead to better patient care. Our EMR solution enables unlimited configurability at the practice, specialty, provider and even the staff level, so adding one-click to make this complete just makes sense." says Mike Jenkins, CEO of BuildYourEMR

BuildYourEMR is in negotiations with several states to provide our Direct Project enabled system that is simple to install and use to receive these files. For those working through an Health Information Exchage (HIE), BuildYourEMR software supports One-Click Submit to HIE using Direct protocol. BuildYourEMR offers an elegant solution that works with your existing infrastructure and is easy to use. To understand how BuildYourEMR can accommodate your unique needs, contact us today.
