Bruce R. Korf, MD, PhD is Named President of the American College of Medical Genetics

completed terms as president of the Association of Professors of Human and Medical Genetics, member of the boards of directors of the American College of Medical Genetics and the American Society of Human Genetics, member of the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, and the National Cancer Institute Board of Scientific Counselors.

"ACMG and its members are at the forefront of genetics research, education and practice. Dr. Korf is a highly capable leader in all of these areas and is an ideal fit for our organization and mission at this point in time," said Michael S. Watson, PhD, FACMG, executive director of the ACMG. "This is a time of promise and excitement in medical genetics as we translate genetic discoveries into better patient care and we look forward to Dr. Korf's valuable contributions as the new ACMG President."

New officers and directors of the ACMG Board of Directors include:

Director, Laboratory Genetics: Gregory A. Grabowski, MD, FACMG, Cincinnati Children's Hospital

Director, Clinical Genetics: Anthony R. Gregg, MD, FACMG, University of South Carolina School of Medicine

Director, Ex Officio/Continuing Medical Education Officer: Mira Irons, MD, FACMG, Children's Hospital of Boston

Director, Clinical Genetics: John J. Mulvihill, MD, FACMG, Oklahoma University Medical Center

Director, Laboratory Genetics: Kathleen W. Rao, PhD, FACMG, University of North Carolina

Three existing Board members were elected to new posts:

Vice-president, Laboratory Genetics: Piero Rinaldo, MD, FACMG, Mayo Clinic
