Date:7/8/2009

SAN FRANCISCO, July 8 /PRNewswire/ -- For the third year in a row, Brown & Toland Physicians ranked as one of the top medical groups in California as measured by a California Association of Physician Groups (CAPG) survey. CAPG is the nation's largest professional organization of physician groups practicing managed care.

"We're proud to be recognized as being one of the best medical groups in California and remain committed to giving our patients the best care," said Brown & Toland Chief Medical Officer Stan Padilla, M.D.

This year, 85 medical groups that care for 10.5 million HMO patients participated in CAPG's Standards of Excellence survey. The program recognizes quality in four areas: care management, health information technology, patient-centered care and accountability and transparency.

Brown & Toland scored in the Elite tier as defined by the association alongside 19 other medical groups.
