Bright Hope's Quick Response Saves Lives

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill., Jan. 25 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bright Hope's team on the ground in Haiti has accomplished amazing work to save the lives of Haitians. Having served the area for over 15 years, Bright Hope's network of pastors, churches and partners are uniquely qualified to tend to the most urgent and specialized needs of the Haitian people. Over the past 10 days, a coordinated effort consisting of 40 Pastors in the Port-au-Prince and Pignon areas have partnered to distribute food, shelter, medicals needs, and counseling. Reports from the field today state, the area of Pignon, 79 miles north of Port-au-Prince has doubled in size from 35,000 to 65,000 people. Pastor Jephthe, Bright Hope's largest partner in Haiti, tiredly sums up the recent influx of displaced people to his ministries in Pignon: "the earthquake has now hit the rest of Haiti, the effects of IDP (internally displaced people) has been overwhelming. I am so thankful to be able to help these people." A three story church in the Cite Soleai was hosting a bible training session the day of the earthquake. Pastor Boiron at the Church of God felt the tremor. As the walls began to shake, they rushed to get 250 people out of the building; six people did not make it before the building collapsed.

Bright Hope has come alongside this church and many others in helping the people leaving the area. "We are thankful for the prayers and donations coming in that are allowing us to provide these supplies and life saving assistance.
