Brigham and Women's Hospital Launches Stork Fund

Supporting healthy moms, healthy pregnancies and healthy babies.

Boston, MA (Vocus) April 20, 2010 -- Building on 175 years of expertise in the care for mothers and infants, Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) announces the launch of the Stork Fund, a new

ePhilanthropy venture dedicated to supporting healthy moms, pregnancies and babies. The Stork Fund will raise funds for clinical care, research and education and be directed to programs connected to gynecology, fertility, pre- and post- natal care, delivery, birth equity and neonatal intensive care.

“As a leader in women’s health and the premiere birthing center for expectant mothers in the Boston area, we are dedicated to providing quality, family-focused care. Our patients are always looking for ways to stay connected and The Stork Fund is the perfect opportunity for them to give thanks and show appreciation to their care-givers,” said Jim Asp, VP and Chief Development Officer.

With more than 8,000 births annually, BWH is one of the most trusted names in women’s health and is the birthing center most women in Massachusetts choose. The Center for Women and Newborns at the Mary Horrigan Connors Center for Women’s Health at BWH is world renowned for quality obstetrical and neonatal care and provides individual attention for moms, babies and families. BWH is dedicated to the most comprehensive range of state-of-the-art obstetrical services.

“We are excited about the launch of the Stork Fund which will allow us to continue to focus on delivering high-quality care to moms and babies and to improve this care through research and education. The innovations and programs that we develop and the work we do at BWH impacts hospitals and new moms across the United States and beyond,” said Marikim Bunnell, MD, a physician in the Obstetrics/Gynecology Department at BWH.

The Stork Fund will officially kick off with a “My Baby and Me” event on Saturday, May 1 at the Prudential Center in Boston, MA. The event is open to all moms, dads and children under 5 years-old and features Isis Parenting yoga classes for moms and kids and lunch and snacks provided by Au Bon Pain.

The Stork Fund is BWH’s first official venture into ePhilanthropy and will also include an e-store where 100% of the proceeds from Stork Fund products such as bibs, blankets and onesies will benefit the fund.
