Brickson Diamond Appointed Board Chair of National Hospice Foundation

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 19 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Hospice Foundation announces the appointment of Brickson Diamond, of Los Angeles, as Chair of the Board of Trustees. As Board Chair, Diamond will lead the Foundation's dedicated board in its philanthropic efforts to advance quality, compassionate end-of-life care for all.

Diamond is a Senior Vice President of Capital Guardian Trust Company's Personal Investment Management Division and a Vice President of Capital Guardian Trust Company, a Nevada Corporation. He is the manager of the division's Consulting Services Group, responsible for coordinating work with investment management consultants nationally. He earned an MBA from Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration and a BA from Brown University.

Mr. Diamond has taken active leadership in local, national and academic philanthropic circles. In addition to his work on behalf of hospice care, his efforts are focused on the advancement of communities of color, social change, HIV/AIDS prevention and care, and issues affecting the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

Prior to his appointment of Board Chair, Diamond led the NHF resource development committee. He has made a significant pledge to support NHF's Pediatric Initiative, reflecting his particular concern about the issues of bereaved children.

"Brickson Diamond brings a wealth of experience involving finance, philanthropy, and service to the National Hospice Foundation. He is extremely clear-thinking, runs a tight meeting, and is all about holding us all accountable to specific goals. He is also a pleasure to work with; we are delighted he has assumed this new level of leadership with the Foundation," said J. Donald Schumacher, NHF president and CEO.

Immediate past-chair, James R. Borynack, of Wally Findlay Galleries International, Inc., of Palm Beach, New York City, Barcelona, and Los Angeles, will continue his service on the board, providing valuable continuity. Under Borynack's strong leadership and example of personal giving, NHF made substantial strides in the support of pediatric palliative care and issues relating to access and quality of care. Wally Findlay Galleries held the grand opening of its Los Angeles Gallery on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 in honor of NHF.
