Brian Rubin Joins TrailBlazer Health Enterprises' Board of Directors

DALLAS, Dec. 16/PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- TrailBlazer Health Enterprises, LLC, one of the nation's largest and most experienced Medicare contractors, announced today that Brian M. Rubin of Aurora, Colo., has joined the company's board of directors.

Rubin retired in March after more than 30 years of service with the federal agency that manages the Department of Defense's TRICARE program, the health services and support plan for active-duty service members and retirees, and their families. Rubin held several senior executive positions with TRICARE Management Activity (TMA), formerly known as OCHAMPUS, serving most recently as director of operations and deputy chief of TRICARE Acquisitions.

William R. Horton, president of the Government Programs Division for TrailBlazer's parent company, BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, said Rubin's experience with health care contractors' budget processes, operations, management, procurements and compliance will be invaluable to TrailBlazer.

"Brian is highly knowledgeable of the federal government's many health care programs," Horton said. "I've known Brian for many years and am very pleased that TrailBlazer and BlueCross will have the benefit of his experience, insight and leadership."

Based in Dallas, Texas, TrailBlazer Health Enterprises is a diversified government contractor, providing services to Medicare and other government programs. In 2007, TrailBlazer processed nearly 120 million Medicare claims and paid more than $20.5 billion in benefits. TrailBlazer administers Medicare in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado and Virginia. The company also performs specialized Medicare program administration activities that serve health care providers and beneficiaries throughout the nation.
