Boston Bigwigs Clamor for Spots on "The Camelot Cruise" Aboard JFK's Yacht, a Fundraiser for wishgivers.org
Date:6/25/2013

Boston, MA (PRWEB) June 25, 2013

Boston's elite are paying $1,000 apiece to take a three-hour dinner and dance cruise aboard the 93-foot Honey Fitz on Aug. 2. The Camelot Cruise benefits WishGivers.org, a nonprofit charity that helps the critically ill kids of military, police and firefighters.

The Honey Fitz was the presidential yacht for five presidents but it was best known during JFK's presidency for its appearance in many photos of the wind-swept first family at sea.

"My phone has been ringing off the hook for tickets," said PJ Schrantz, Executive Director of WishGivers.org. Since only 50 people are allowed on board at a time, the Camelot Cruise has become the hot charity ticket.

Schrantz, a NYC fireman and 9/11 first-responder lost his 7-year-old son to leukemia. "I had the choice to bury myself in grief or do something positive. The Camelot Cruise is something positive and I'm thrilled at the response," said Schrantz

Part of the appeal is the novelty of sailing on a vessel that got plenty of visibility at the height of Kennedy's presidency, admiringly called Camelot.

Until now WishGivers.org was primarily supported by donors who give $3 a week to be a part of Feel-Good Fridays. "Feel-Good Fridays gives every American a chance to be a hero and actually see the faces of the kids they are helping every week," said Schrantz.

The Camelot Cruise gives large donors the same feel-good experience but with an added bonus: for $1000 donors will be able to belly up to the same mahogany bar that served Kennedy and four other commanders in chief.

To reserve a ticket on the Camelot Cruise, go to http:/camelotcruise.com. To make a donation to WishGivers.org, go to http://wishgivers.org/.
