Borrego Health Holds Informative Open House at New Health Center

Borrego Health, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) public benefit corporation and a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), cordially invites the public to an open house event on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Desert Hot Springs Community Health and Wellness Center, a new 8,200-square-foot health facility located at 11-750 Cholla Drive in Desert Hot Springs, California.

The event will showcase the site’s four dental operatories, two exam rooms, behavioral health and teen health screening areas, and a community education room complete with a commercial kitchen and cardio-fitness gym. Health and wellness services available to the community will be promoted, as well as complimentary dental screenings for children and adults. Informational sessions will be held every hour regarding Covered California, the state’s new insurance marketplace. Tours of the gym complete with elliptical machines, treadmills, stationary bikes, and free weights manufactured by Technogym will also be given.

Attendees can also stop by the Harvest Resource Fair being held next door in the Boys & Girls Club where health related booths, prizes, and food items will be provided by more than 50 city and county departments, nonprofit organizations and businesses.

Lenny Pepper, Borrego Health Vice President of Special Projects and Programs, said, “This is a monumental event for the community. We hope this open house will show the community the many services offered and will improve knowledge and access to needed healthcare services.”

Borrego Health is honored to be improving the number of providers and the health services available to DHS residents. The organization would also like to thank Desert Healthcare District, the City of Desert Hot Springs, and the many other organizations and individuals for their support of this event, and their leadership in the implementation of
