O'Brien as the new chief executive officer (CEO) for Bon Secours Charity Health System. Terry's appointment comes after an in-depth national search for the position vacated as a result of the departure of Dominick Stanzione in June. O'Brien will begin his leadership on February 2, 2009, reporting directly to Rich Statuto, president and chief executive officer for BSHSI.

O'Brien comes to BSHSI from Lenox Hill Hospital, a 650 bed, major teaching hospital, located on Manhattan's Upper East Side. Lenox Hill was named one of the top 50 Hospitals in the 2008 U.S. News and World Report rankings in the areas of Heart & Heart Surgery (25) and Orthopedics (32). O'Brien currently serves as the hospital's executive vice president and chief operating officer, as well as the administrative director of the Lenox Hill Healthcare Network, an IPA of 750 affiliated physicians and 5 affiliated hospitals.

O'Brien's career spans over 37 years and includes progressive responsibility and leadership positions in the areas of acute and long-term care operations, finance, strategy, physician relationships, service line management and managed care.
