BodyMedia, Inc. Expands Overseas Offerings and Receives Milestone Certification for Continued Global Growth

Launch of Ki Fit and ISO 13485 Certification set the stage for rapid expansion and competitive advantage

Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) October 5, 2009-- BodyMedia, Inc., the pioneer in developing wearable body monitoring systems, today announced the launch of the Ki Fit Lifestyle and Calorie Management System by Ki Performance. Through the company's first strategic partner in Europe, BodyMedia is extending its breakthrough lifestyle and calorie management solution to consumers in the United Kingdom. For the first time, overseas customers will be able use the same effective, clinically accurate and web-based body-monitoring products as thousands of customers throughout the United States.

"Ki Fit represents our effort to support the growing global trend of individuals taking a more proactive approach to managing and improving their lifestyle and overall health," commented Andy Parker, Chief Executive Officer of Ki Performance. "Partnering with BodyMedia on the Ki Fit solution allows us to offer our customers a personalized "dashboard" of their total lifestyle -- physical activity, calories burned, nutrition intake and even sleep efficiency in an affordable and easy to use product. We are pleased to make BodyMedia's industry leading body monitoring technology available to everyone in the UK."

The Ki Fit launch was strategically timed with BodyMedia receiving its ISO 13485:2003 Certificate of Registration. ISO 13485:2003 is an internationally recognized standard which defines the guidelines for the design, development, production, and distribution of medical devices. It is designed to ensure conformity with specified quality controls in the development of safe and effective medical devices. For more information, visit - ISO 13485:2003.

The ISO 13485:2003 certification provides BodyMedia with the ability to enter more international markets at greater speed, and provides the company with a significant competitive advantage over other monitors that cannot claim the same standards of quality, efficacy and safety to their customers. Different from simple pedometers, accelerometers or heart rate monitors, BodyMedia's multi-sensor technology automatically tracks five key parameters that directly affect one's health: calorie burn, physical activity level, steps taken, and sleep duration and efficiency. It also allows users to log the foods they eat, so they can better understand calorie balance -- the key to weight loss - day to day, and month to month.

"Securing the CE certification and establishing this exciting new partnership with Ki Performance marks a major milestone in BodyMedia's 10 year history and reinforces our commitment to delivering the highest standard of quality and care in the body monitoring industry worldwide," commented Chris Robins, Chief Executive Officer of BodyMedia. "We believe that this partnership will give us the opportunity to better understand regional lifestyle differences across the globe and enable us to adapt and refine our products so we can continue to deliver best-in-class solutions that help our customers reach their health management goals."
