Body-Jet Liposuction First Introduced in the United States

Dr. Jeffry Schafer of New Image Cosmetic Surgery in San Diego is the first in the US to offer Body-Jet Liposuction AKA water assisted liposuction (WAL).

San Diego, California (PRWEB) May 6, 2009 -- A gentler form of liposuction - the "body-jet" - has been introduced by Dr. Jeffry Schafer at his New Image Cosmetic Surgery center in San Diego, CA. This advanced, water-spray technique offer clients less pain and smoother results, and because it is minimally invasive, the technique can be performed on multiple areas of the body during the same surgical procedure, eliminating the need for expensive and uncomfortable multiple procedures.

"It's like a stream of water that loosens fat cells and gently vacuums them up," Dr. Schafer explained, noting that he had been monitoring the procedure for four years until it received FDA approval in September, 2008. Dr. Schafer is the first cosmetic surgeon in the country, and one of only 300 in the world, to offer the body-jet water-spray technique.

The body-jet liposuction technique is a truly innovative advancement for patients considering liposuction. Traditional techniques are designed to destroy fat cells, but the body-jet procedure loosens the fat without damage to the fat cell itself. Instead, the medical-grade water solution pushes apart sheets of fat cells at their weakest points, which causes less damage to the surrounding blood cells and connective tissue, and makes the procedure less traumatic and more comfortable while still delivering significant contouring results.
