Blue Cross Chief Medical Officer Recognized as Leader in Disease Management

EAGAN, Minn., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- David W. Plocher, M.D., Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota chief medical officer and senior vice president of health management, informatics and pharmacy, is one of 28 national leaders in disease management named by Managed Healthcare Executive. Dr. Plocher was selected for his work in medical management, data analytics, information technology, and provider performance profiling. He is also an author of multiple articles, books, and book chapters on the topics of disease management and data analysis.

The magazine said it chose the leaders based on candidates' commitment to the disease management discipline, program results, innovation and thought leadership. Dr. Plocher was also recently recognized as one of the Top 100 Most Influential Leaders in Health Care by Minnesota Physician.

Dr. Plocher joined Blue Cross in 2005 and has responsibility for Blue Cross' health management division. He has a 25-year career in medicine, teaching, consulting and corporate leadership. Dr. Plocher has served on the editorial boards of several disease management journals and is a frequent presenter at national industry meetings.
