Block O'Toole & Murphy, LLP Secures $2,150,000 Settlement For Personal Injury Plaintiff Injured In Motor Vehicle Collision
Date:8/25/2013

New York, NY (PRWEB) August 25, 2013

On August 8, 2013, New York personal injury lawyers Block O'Toole & Murphy settled the case of Paula Donaldson v. Muriel Schiff (Supreme Court of the State of New York, Nassau County, Index Number: 15426/2011). The case stemmed from an accident that occurred when the plaintiff, who was driving her vehicle straight, was struck by the defendant vehicle, which was approaching from the opposite direction and turned left into the plaintiff's car. Plaintiff alleged injuries, including right femur and calcaneus fractures that were treated surgically, as well as damage to her right knee and Achilles tendon. Despite her injuries, the plaintiff returned to full-time employment after the accident. The foregoing information was all included in plaintiff's verified pleadings, in the deposition testimony of both plaintiff and defendant, and in various medical records that were exchanged during the course of discovery.

This case was handled by firm partner Stephen J. Murphy, who settled the case before trial for $2,150,000, which was virtually all of the available insurance coverage the defendant possessed. It should be noted, that Nassau County is traditionally thought of as a conservative venue where it is extremely difficult to achieve multimillion dollar personal injury awards.

Mr. Murphy commented, "we are very pleased with the result of Ms. Donaldson's case. She is a good person who was injured through no fault of her own, and now feels a sense of justice that she has been financially compensated for her suffering."
