Birmingham Maple Clinic Announces April is National Child Abuse and Prevention Month
Date:4/3/2013

(PRWEB) April 03, 2013

Michigan mental health providers at the Birmingham Maple Clinic recently announced that April is National Child Abuse Prevention month, designed to raise awareness among communities and organizations around the critical issues of child abuse and neglect, and to educate the public on prevention. Lori Edelson, Birmingham Maple Clinic spokesperson and therapist said, “National Child Abuse Prevention Month brings the important discussions around how to prevent child abuse in this country to the forefront, and encourages health care professionals and members of the community to take a hard look at this ongoing problem in our society.”

As part of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, the state of Michigan also recognizes April 16th as Michigan Child Abuse Prevention & Awareness Day, which is held at the steps of the State Capital in downtown Lansing. Edelson said, “Child abuse is a serious issue in our society that can be prevented by providing the right education on how to recognize the signs of abuse, and by offering education on how to prevent or stop the cycle of abuse through mental health counseling for those who have been affected.”

Birmingham Maple Clinic offers mental health counseling and treatment for many mental health conditions and provides personalized care that is managed by an in-house team of mental health experts and a caring staff. The clinic, located in Troy, offers mental health counseling for families, couples and individuals, including children, who have been the victims of abuse.
