Birdstep Technology Adds Micro HTTP Server to the Upcoming Release of its Raima Database Manager, RDM Embedded Version 9.0
Date:10/26/2008

Birdstep Technology announces the upcoming release of its popular embedded database Raima Database Manager Embedded 9.0.

Seattle (PRWEB) October 26, 2008 -- Birdstep Technology (OSE: BIRD) today announced the upcoming release of version 9.0 of its Raima Database Manager Embedded also known as RDM Embedded. This is the latest release from the Raima Database Management Family providing exciting new capabilities and functionality for embedded systems application developers, and topping the list is a micro HTTP server. General availability of this new version of the popular embedded database is targeted for mid December 2008.

The new micro HTTP server is a fully HTTP 1.1 (RFC2616) compliant Web server designed for threaded and thread-less operating systems and applications. The server can host RAM and disk resident content as well as the pre-integrated RDM Embedded data. The server is engineered for small footprint and resource constraint devices. In addition it is fully extendable, allowing developers to add virtually unlimited functionality to the server. One possible use for this is an application to monitor time interval data points which can dynamically adjust parameters. Take for example a power consumption application that monitors the power usage of a shop floor. When the power consumption level reaches a certain threshold, the application makes adjustments to the machinery parameters, also stored in the database engine, to bring the consumption level back within the acceptable range. If the user wants to override the application by adjusting the power consumption threshold they can easily do so via a remote Web application, possibly running on a handheld device.

Birdstep will be demonstrating the HTTP Server at this week's Embedded Systems Conference in Boston, October 26 - 28 at their booth #1012.

Another new feature in RDM Embedded 9.0 is circular tables which allow
