New Glove Allows Clinicians to Spot Punctures Sooner

NORCROSS, Ga., March 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Molnlycke Health Care US, LLC, maker of Biogel(R) surgical gloves and the only major surgical glove company with an exclusively powder-free glove line, adds a new glove to its line this month that helps clinicians notice punctures sooner.

The Biogel brand PI Indicator Underglove complements two polyisoprene surgical gloves already in the line. Users can double glove, wearing the PI Indicator Underglove with one of the existing PI surgical gloves to form a synthetic, patented puncture indication system. The double-glove puncture indication system provides an immediate visual warning in the presence of fluid.

Biogel's existing Patented Puncture Indicator System, using latex gloves, alerts wearers to a puncture. The new PI Indicator Underglove completes the only polyisoprene patented puncture indication system available. It also provides a clearer glove puncture indication compared to competitor double-gloving.(1)

The PI Indicator Underglove is a soft glove that feels, looks like, and performs like latex. However, this glove has greater tactile sensitivity than the Biogel brand PI. Additionally, the new glove has the features found in all Biogel brand surgical gloves -- an industry-leading 0.65 AQL; non-pyrogenic; powder-free; 100% inspected; skin-soothing; low chemical levels and an inner Biogel terpolymer coating. Biogel brand gloves are packaged in premium quality packaging, which features easy peel with an easy-grip flap and bar coding. The inner wrap clearly identifies the left and right gloves and slides easily out of the outer pouch easily when setting up the back table.
