BioPlus Specialty Pharmacy Pledges $25,000 to Hurricane Maria Relief
Date:10/11/2017

BioPlus Specialty Pharmacy (BioPlus), one of the nation’s leading innovative specialty pharmacies, announces the adaptation of the company’s charitable Pay It Forward program to provide support to those affected by Hurricane Maria. All of the company’s third-quarter Pay It Forward program will be channeled to the charity Samaritan’s Purse.

“Along with the rest of the country, our hearts were heavy at BioPlus to see the suffering in Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and other places during and after Hurricane Maria,” shares Stephen Vogt, Pharm.D., President and CEO of BioPlus Specialty Pharmacy. “As a health care company, we feel a responsibility to help those in need and go beyond offering condolences; this feeling was heightened by the first-hand reports from some of our employees who have family members living in many of the places devastated by Hurricane Maria,” he adds.

Pay It Forward, since its inception in 2013, has provided $301,000 in donations to multiple non-profit patient foundations. The Pay It Forward campaign, by partnering with BioPlus’ 2-Hour Patient Acceptance Guarantee, makes a donation to a non-profit patient foundation for every referral received at BioPlus.

“Our Pay It Forward program raised $25,000 in the third quarter, which we will be donating – along with direct donations from our employees and some internal fundraisers – to Samaritan’s Purse which provides Hurricane Maria recovery aid,” explains Bonnie Walsh, Director of Human Resources at BioPlus.

BioPlus chose to donate to Samaritan’s Purse, which is a religious humanitarian aid organization that is based in North Carolina but provides aid internationally.
