Best Drug Rehabilitation Shares New Video Release Focused on Artistic Expression in Recovery
Date:6/6/2016

Anybody who is going through the process of selecting an effective program at a professional substance abuse treatment center should take a few moments to watch a newly released video from Best Drug Rehabilitation, a holistic treatment center for addiction located in Western Michigan. The video focuses on their Art program option, one of the many supplemental groups that offer to their patients as part of a thorough recovery strategy.

“Overcoming addiction isn’t just getting clean and sober,” says Best Drug Rehabilitation founder Per Wickstrom. “True recovery is about addressing the underlying issues that are causing the addictive behaviors, and then finding ways to cope with the stresses of daily life without needing to resort to using drugs or alcohol. Our Art program, among many other options that we offer our patients, is intended to help them find ways to express themselves in a healthy and positive manner.”

Best Drug Rehabilitation Video Testimonials

The video, which can be viewed on the Best Drug Rehabilitation YouTube channel, features testimony from Vanessa M., a patient participating in the Art group, and clips from an interview with the facilitator of the group, Sue Miller. Footage from the group is highlighted as well.

Miller explains that her group is an effective recovery program option for anyone, not just for those who may already be accomplished artists. “They have a tendency to say ‘Oh, I’m not good at drawing’,” she says. “I stress that this is not an Art Class. The purpose is to identify feelings, talk about coping skills, so it’s another way for them to express themselves.”

Vanessa, who had a passion for artistic expression before addiction took control of her life, was excited to learn that Best Drug Rehabilitation offers an Art program. “I kind of put art aside to do the things that I shouldn’t have been doing,” she admits in her testimonial. “It’s actually really relieving. Anytime I get upset or have a craving, I tend to pick up a pencil and draw. I think it’s cool to finally find me, without a substance.”

Best Drug Rehabilitation developed their substance abuse treatment program with the understanding that every person that comes to their recovery center is a unique individual, with differing needs and personalities. They offer several different program options and supplemental groups that, when combined in a comprehensive manner, form a thorough and effective recovery strategy that encompasses people from any cultural or spiritual background. Additionally, they base progress through the individualized program on results rather than any set timeframe. This allows their patients to explore all of their options at their own pace, and to get the most benefit out of their personalized rehabilitation program.
