Benchmark Brands Celebrates 20th Anniversary
Date:8/24/2009

ATLANTA, Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Benchmark Brands, Inc., the parent company of FootSmart and the nation's largest direct retailer of foot and lower body healthcare products and comfort footwear, is proud to announce its 20th Anniversary. Since 1989, the company has upheld two consumer commitments: smarter, better products to achieve lower body health and comfort, and providing expert customer information and service. FootSmart offers a full range of comfort shoes, socks, hosiery and lower body healthcare products that address a variety of conditions, including heel pain, diabetes, arthritis and poor circulation. FootSmart has served more than 3.5 million customers, including over one million in the past 12 months.

"Twenty years ago, FootSmart was founded on the belief that a great feeling body starts with comfortable and healthy feet," explains Alan Beychok, president of Benchmark Brands. "Since then, the company has grown into more than just a direct retailer; FootSmart is a reliable source where consumers seek expert information on lower body ailments and pain relief."

In 2008, FootSmart generated more than $100 million dollars in revenue. Contributing to the company's success, the FootSmart Customer Care Center, staffed by 65 associates, processed over 700,000 customer order calls. Additionally, FootSmart reaches over one million email subscribers with relevant and timely messaging based on customer browsing and purchase behavior.

Charitable giving is a company priority. FootSmart annually donates shoes valued at over $100,000 to the Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association in Memphis, which provides various services to individuals and families in need. Additionally, FootSmart is an annual sponsor of the American Diabetes Association's Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes.

FootSmart has a staff of 260 associates and is headquartered in Norcross, Ga., with a distribution center maintained in Memphis, Tenn. An additional office in Midtown Atlanta houses Internet Marketing, Catalog and Database Marketing, Web Operations and Web Development.
