Ben Shappley Joins Amedica's Leadership Team

SALT LAKE CITY, Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Amedica Corporation, a spinal and orthopaedic implant company focused on silicon nitride ceramic technologies, announced today that Ben Shappley has joined the Company as its Chief Executive Officer and President. Mr. Shappley will also serve on the company's Board of Directors.

Mr. Shappley has more than 25 years of orthopaedic and neurosurgical implant experience in both management and senior management roles. Most recently, he served as CEO and President of SpineMatrix. Prior to that, he was President of Theken Spine. Mr. Shappley has served in senior management positions in various companies including Therics Corporation, which was acquired by Theken Spine, Orthomatrix, Inc., Wright Medical Technology, Medtronic Sofamor Danek and Smith & Nephew. Mr. Shappley is a founding and charter member of the Institute for Orthopaedic Enlightenment and is a listed inventor on seven orthopaedic implant patents. Mr. Shappley holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.
