Date:6/14/2013

Tucson, AZ (PRWEB) June 14, 2013

Bellovin & Karnas, P.C. in Arizona is currently investigating the Hepatitis A outbreak and collecting consumer information from people who may have been infected with disease by ingesting “Townsend Farms Organic Antioxidant Blend” frozen berry and pomegranate mix. David Karnas has been involved with previous nationwide foodbourne illness cases and is now reaching out to consumers who are considering legal action.

"People should be aware of what's going on and that there are people in the hospital right now," David said. He also stated, "There may be untreated people at home with symptoms." He created a web site for victims with information on Hepatitis A. The web site also includes public outreach information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as Townsend Farms.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as of June 12, 2013, there are investigations in acute Hepatitis A illnesses in 99 people in eight states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Washington. Based on completed epidemiologic investigation of 87 cases, the ages range from 2 – 87 years. 71 of the 87 (87%) ill people interviewed reported eating “Townsend Farms Organic Anti-Oxidant Blend” frozen berry and pomegranate mix. All those who reported eating this product purchased it from Costco markets; however, the product was also sold at Harris Teeter stores. No cases have been identified that bought the product at Harris Teeter at this time.

On June 3, 2013, Townsend Farms, Inc. of Fairview Oregon announced that it is voluntarily recalling certain lots of its frozen Organic Antioxidant Blend because it has the potential to be contaminated with Hepatitis A virus. According to Townsend Farms, the recall covers all product sold at Costco warehouse stores under the name Townsend Farms Organic Antioxidant Bl
