Bay Area Hospital Selects BESLER Consulting’s BVerified (SM)- Screening and Verification Solution
Date:5/13/2013

Princeton, NJ (PRWEB) May 13, 2013

BESLER Consulting, a leading provider of comprehensive revenue recovery and compliance services to healthcare organizations, is pleased to announce that Bay Area Hospital of Coos Bay, Oregon has selected BESLER’s BVerified - Screening and Verification solution to address the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) sanctions screening requirements.

Under federal regulations, Medicare will not reimburse providers and other healthcare organizations for services rendered by individuals and organizations that have been excluded from federal healthcare programs due to fraud and abuse convictions. When a provider discovers that one of its employees or vendors is found on the list of excluded parties, it is obligated to report this to CMS. CMS reserves the right to recover payments made to the provider that are directly or indirectly related to that employee or vendor.

While CMS instructs hospitals to screen their employees and vendors against the HHS OIG’s list of excluded individuals “routinely,” industry best practices dictate that providers screen all employees, vendors and caregivers on a monthly basis. BESLER’s BVerified - Screening and Verification solution makes this potentially tedious and daunting task straightforward. Going beyond CMS requirements, the BVerified tool also includes all available state Medicaid exclusion databases, additional federal exclusion lists and accessible state licensing databases. The software addresses the many difficulties that can be part of an effective sanctions screening solution, including name misspellings, hyphenated names and recurring false positive matches.

“We’re happy that Bay Area Hospital has chosen BELSER to help them address this important issue,” stated Jonathan Besler, BESLER’s President and
