In celebration of Earth Day tomorrow, medical device company announces
significant increase in environmental benefits through environmental
stewardship and recycling programs.
ENGLEWOOD, Colo., April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Baxa Corporation is committed to manufacturing operations that minimize the opportunity for environmental harm and support sustainable resources. As a healthcare products provider, Baxa strives to choose the most efficient materials for our products -- those that have the greatest potential for patient safety and clinical efficacy and the least potential for adverse environmental impact. More recently, the company has adopted a number of 'green' initiatives for further reducing our environmental impact and supporting our goals for environmental stewardship.
For 2007, according to data provided by Waste Management the company's
waste and recycling hauler, Baxa recycling efforts resulted in the
following environmental savings:
-- 288 cu yd of landfill airspace saved
-- 1,399 mature trees saved
-- 38,110 gallons of oil saved
-- 1,975 gallons of gasoline saved
-- 576,170 gallons of water saved
-- 337,471 kw-hr of electricity saved
