Barry Lundquist Named Interim President of Council for Disability Awareness
Date:6/25/2009

PORTLAND, Maine, June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The Council for Disability Awareness (CDA), a Portland, Maine-based not-for-profit organization dedicated to raising public awareness about the likelihood of becoming disabled and the need to prepare for the potential financial consequences, announced the appointment of Barry Lundquist as Interim President, effective immediately.

"Barry Lundquist is well suited to build on the momentum CDA has achieved since its founding in 2005," said Joseph Foley, chairman of the CDA Board of Directors. "Barry has over 30 years of experience in both the management and sales side of group and individual disability. I know he'll bring the same dedication he has for his work to the task of ushering CDA through a seamless leadership transition."

In his role as CDA Interim President, Lundquist will leverage his experience in the disability insurance industry and his leadership role as founder of Eastport Marketing Group to review CDA's recent successes and determine how to move the Council forward and better serve the American workforce.

"It is a privilege to help CDA continue to evolve as an important resource for American workers and the disability industry," said Lundquist. "The CDA has accomplished a great deal in the last four years, through research and advocacy of disability awareness, prevention and income protection. I am honored to assist in shaping CDA's next chapter."

Lundquist takes the reigns from CDA's first president, Robert Taylor, a 35-year veteran of the disability insurance industry. Taylor was instrumental in establishing the CDA as the preeminent public resource for information about disability awareness, prevention and preparation.

The CDA provides the public with a wide array of disability awareness resources through its main Web site, www.disabilitycanhappen.org<
