Baron and Budd Has Begun Investigating Claims for Transvaginal Mesh Lawsuits
Date:8/27/2013

LOS ANGELES (PRWEB) August 27, 2013

The national law firm Baron and Budd has begun investigating claims of transvaginal mesh injury. Transvaginal mesh is a medical device implanted in women to treat pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence. Transvaginal mesh has been used for years; however, use of the mesh is alleged to lead to nerve damage, infections, perforation of organs and blood vessels, internal bleeding, erosions and problems and/or pain while urinating. Use of transvaginal mesh allegedly also increases the risk for significant revision surgery, a costly and painful medical procedure. (Cisson v. C.R. Bard Inc., 11-cv-00195, U.S. District Court, Southern District of West Virginia (Charleston))

With most revision surgeries, the doctor attempts to fully remove the mesh device – a process that often requires multiple surgeries to complete. Transvaginal mesh revision surgeries may also cause further damage. (http://www.michiehamlett.com/articles/pdfs/aaj_unequal_harm.pdf)

“All patients must understand their options before deciding to go forward with surgery. Unfortunately, patients who have already undergone transvaginal mesh surgery may face the need for complicated, expensive and often painful revision surgeries. We want to help these women who have suffered because of transvaginal mesh,” says Russell Budd of Baron and Budd.

On October 20, 2008, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sent out a warning to health care providers that reported complications from transvaginal mesh placement including mesh erosion in the body, vaginal scarring, pain, infections, pain during sexual intercourse and bowel or bladder perforation. However, the transvaginal mesh medical product is still on the market and transvaginal mesh surgeries are still being performed.
