BMA Management Affordable Assisted Living Community Earns Deficiency-Free Survey From State Department
Date:8/9/2013

Bradley, IL (PRWEB) August 09, 2013

Heritage Woods of Mt. Vernon – a BMA affordable assisted living community – has been awarded a deficiency-free survey by the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS).

The community, which is located at 1033 S. 42nd St. in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, serves older adults of all incomes, including those on Medicaid, who need some help to maintain their independence.

HFS is responsible for regulating Heritage Woods and other communities that operate through the Illinois Supportive Living Program.

During the annual survey process, representatives from the state department visited Heritage Woods to conduct a detailed review of all aspects of the community's operations, including the physical plant, nursing and ancillary services, maintenance, food service, and disaster preparedness. The survey process also included interviews with residents.

Heritage Woods received the recognition after earning the deficiency-free score on its 2013 Healthcare and Family Services survey. The perfect survey results reflect efforts the community makes to meet industry standards and regulations while continuing to put residents first.

"Our emphasis at Heritage Woods is on helping residents maintain as much independence as possible for as long as possible by providing love, compassion and dignity in addition to the care and assistance they need," says Dennis Krupp, Director of Marketing for Heritage Woods of Mt. Vernon.

“As an affordable assisted living community," he says, "we are proud of our ability to continue serving older adults of all incomes with the best possible assistance to ensure they live the best life possible in the comfort of their own apartment.”

Krupp described Heritage Woods as a great alternative to nursing home care or to struggling alone at home for older adults who need some assistance to maintain their independence, but do not require skilled nursing home care.

The Heritage Woods of Mt. Vernon affordable assisted living community combines residential apartment home living with the availability of personal assistance, help with medications and a variety of convenience and support services.

“We provide a wonderful alternative to a nursing home or to struggling alone at home,” Krupp said.

Residents live in private apartments that they furnish and decorate to their tastes. Each of the studio and one-bedroom floor plans includes a kitchenette, spacious bathroom with shower and grab bars, individually-controlled heating and air conditioning, and emergency alert system.

Certified nursing assistants, working under the direction of a licensed nurse, are on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Meals, housekeeping and laundry are among the included services.

“Residents also benefit from all of the opportunities that are available to socialize with friends and neighbors and participate in activities and special programs,” says Krupp.

Heritage Woods of Mt. Vernon is the only community in Jefferson County that is certified to operate through the Illinois Supportive Living program. The affordable assisted living community is managed by BMA Management, Ltd., of Bradley, Illinois.

BMA Management is the largest provider of assisted living in Illinois.

“Our focus is to provide the residents of Heritage Woods of Mt. Vernon with the love, compassion and dignity they deserve and the help and assistance they need,” says Rod Burkett, President and CEO of BMA. “Our emphasis is on helping each resident at Heritage Woods of Mt. Vernon achieve and maintain as much independence as possible for as long as possible.”

Communities managed by BMA Management include the Prairie Living affordable assisted living community in Carbondale and the Cambridge House affordable assisted living communities in the St. Louis Metro East area.
