John Evans Supportive Living, a BMA affordable assisted living community, is hosting a Strong for Life strength training program for older adults at 8:30 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays during the month of July.
The community, which is located at 1320 Executive Ct. in Pekin, Illinois, serves older adults of all incomes, including those on Medicaid, who need some help to maintain their independence.
The Strong for Life strength training program also will be available at 4 p.m. on Wednesdays.
The program is open to the public. There is no charge to attend.
For more information, call 309-477-8800.
The community combines residential apartment-home living with the availability of personal assistance, help with medications and a variety of convenience and support services.
"We provide older adults with a wonderful alternative to a nursing home or to struggling alone at home," says Bridget Rumler, Director of Marketing for John Evans.
Residents live in private studio and one-bedroom apartments, which they furnish and decorate to their taste. Each of the apartments features a kitchenette, spacious bathroom with shower and grab bars, individually-controlled heating and air conditioning, and emergency alert system.
Certified nursing assistants, working under the direction of a licensed nurse, are on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All three meals each day, housekeeping and laundry are among the included services.
"Residents also benefit from all of the opportunities that are available to socialize with friends and neighbors no matter what the weather and to participate in activities and special programs such as our strength training program," says Rumler.
John Evans Supportive Living is certified to operate through the Illinois Supportive Living and is managed by BMA Management, Ltd.
