TIPS FOR PICKING THE RIGHT SUNSCREEN - SIDEBAR

Look Beyond the SPF - A higher number doesn't guarantee the best protection. SPF only protects against UVB, not UVA, which can cause premature sign of aging and even skin cancer.

Check for Broad Spectrum - If it doesn't say broad spectrum, it probably isn't. Make sure your sunscreen offers adequate protection against both UVB and UVA rays.

Read the Fine Print - If you have sensitive skin avoid ingredients such as PABA and oxybenzone which can cause itching and rashes.

When Sweet Smelling is Bad - Fragrance may smell good, but can cause problems for people with sensitive skin. If you're prone to breakouts, less (meaning no added fragrance) is more! Look for a fragrance-free product.

Go for Coverage - Sprays and sticks may be convenient, but if applied incorrectly, may not provide proper coverage. A good rule of thumb is to apply liberally (one-ounce - or a good handful of lotion - per area) and reapply regularly.
