Author Gustave Sorensen Sheds Light on the Phenomenon of Hypnosis

About the Author
Gustave Sorensen was born in Bronx, New York to immigrant parents. Early in his life, he pursued a boxing career. In 1944, he enlisted in the navy but after the war, he returned to boxing. He won in the middleweight division in Utah in 1947 and the Golden Gloves in Northern California in 1948.

Sorensen received his bachelor’s degree in fine arts in 1951 from the College of Arts in Oakland, California. In 1986, he also received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Dominguez. After college, Sorensen worked at Howard Hughes Aircraft, a career that spanned thirty-six years. During this time, he also worked part-time with hypnosis. He began his full-time practice in hypnosis after his retirement from Howard Hughes Aircraft. Sorensen draws, paints and teaches sculpture. He lives quietly in Seal Beach with his wife.
