Austin Dental Center Announces Use of Drug-Free Sedation Technique Using NuCalm System
Date:6/12/2013

Austin, TX (PRWEB) June 12, 2013

Dr. John Glennon of Austin Dental Center, PC (512-454-0414) is pleased to announce a new approach to alleviating the anxiety that many dental patients in Austin, Texas may experience during office visits. The revolutionary NuCalm system is a drug-free sedation technique that involves a combination of reducing the sensory experiences of the patient, application of gentle electrical pulses and a dietary supplement that blocks adrenaline receptors within a matter of minutes.

Dr. Glennon uses the following four steps of the NuCalm system to induce full body relaxation in his patients, which in turn reduces or eliminates any anxiety they might experience during a dental visit:

  •     Patients are provided with dark sunglasses to wear during the appointment. Darkness encourages the production of natural sleep-inducing chemicals within the body, which helps the patient to relax.
  •     Noise-blocking headphones help to block out the noises of the dental office. The NuCalm headphones also play soft music and sound waves that work to relax both the mind and body of the patient.
  •     FDA-approved Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation is used to induce deep relaxation in the patient. This involves application of gentle electrical impulses behind the patients’ ears, which feels similar to a scalp massage.
  •     NuCalm dietary supplements, given to patients in the form of chewable tablets, contain healthy nutrients that work to block adrenaline receptors within 3 to 5 minutes. As a result, the patient will feel slightly sleepy, extremely relaxed and unconcerned about the dental appointment.

In addition to providing patients with a drug-free sedation alternative, the NuCalm system leaves patients feeling well rested and even rejuvenated after their dental visit. That feeling often lasts for the remainder of the day.

“I’m pleased to be able to offer the NuCalm system to my patients,” said Dr. Glennon. “It’s quite common for people to experience some form of anxiety during a dental appointment, and the NuCalm system is an extremely effective way to reduce or eliminate a patient’s stress altogether. If someone feels anxious about visiting the dentist, that person is more likely to postpone dental appointments or to not go at all. This can lead to poor oral health, and poor oral health can lead to other health problems as well. It’s my hope that providing the NuCalm system to my patients will encourage them to maintain a regular schedule of dental visits, which in turn will lead to their improved oral health.”
