NEW YORK, March 3 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With New York physicians facing a potential surcharge in malpractice insurance premiums of $50,000, in addition to a projected premium increase, an expected one thousand New York physicians will be in Albany's Hart Theater in the Egg, Empire State Plaza, on Tuesday, March 4th where they will be addressed by the Governor at 9:45 a.m. and then march on the Capitol steps by 12:30 p.m. to demand justice and malpractice reform.
With empty chairs symbolizing many of the physicians who have already left New York to practice elsewhere, or sought early retirement, many of the doctors will leave their white coats on the steps of the capitol to underscore the coming crisis when many patients discover their doctors have been forced to close, retire or relocate out of state.
The rally will include speakers from the Medical Society of the State
of New York and other health care leaders who insist that without
malpractice reform, access to health care throughout the state will be
harmed.
What: Some one thousand NY physicians will leave their clinics and
offices to rally in Albany to demand malpractice insurance reform.
When: Tuesday, March 4th, start time 9:00 a.m., Governor speaks at
9:45 a.m., Senate Majority Leader Bruno at 10:30 a.m., a white coat
rally on the steps of the Capital at 12:30 pm. (see agenda for full

Where: Albany's Hart Theater in the Egg, Empire State Plaza, Albany and
then marching to the steps of the State Capitol.
Why: Doctors will see their malpractice premiums go up on July 1 by
potentially tens of thousands of dollars, forcing many to close
their doors, relocate or retire early.
