Atmail Releases Atmail Messaging Software Version 6.1.7
Date:4/21/2010

Atmail releases latest version of Atmail 6, the core of its Email Server, Email Server Appliance and Webmail product lines.

(PRWEB) April 21, 2010 -- Atmail, a leading developer of software applications for email messaging and collaboration, with over 14 million paid mailboxes worldwide, has released Version 6.1.7 of their messaging software. The latest release adds further enhancements to the calendaring and the next-generation Webmail UI. Version 6.1.7 features several significant advancements in the areas of improved performance, using intelligent client-side caching. With intelligent client-side caching of various data requested from the server improves UI performance, while reducing the load on the back-end server. Overall calendar performance has also improved.

Atmail competes with Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotus Notes and other market leaders, as well as commercial open source offerings like Zimbra, by creating cost effective messaging solutions, powered by open protocols. Atmail 6 is constantly evolving to accommodate the needs of the industry.  New features are added regularly to increase the overall value to Atmail clients.  Since the introduction of Atmail 6.0 in July 2009, there have been several features added and over one hundred improvements have been made to the application.

Highlights:

Complete Mail Server Support - Atmail Email Server includes support for SMTP, POP3 & IMAP protocols. The Atmail Server is presented with the intuitive and easy to use Webadmin and WebMail interfaces, making open-source easy.

Groupware Server - The Atmail Server can be used as a lightweight Exchange alternative. Users share address-book, calendar and task data with other users on the system. iCal/CalDAV support is included to synchronize data between the calendar server, desktop clients and mobile devices such as an iPhone.
