Atlanta Plastic Surgeon Dr. David Whiteman Says Increased Popularity of Ethnic Rhinoplasty, Indicated by Latest ASPS Statistics, Emphasizes Need for Experienced Surgeons

The latest American Society of Plastic Surgeons’ Plastic Surgery Procedural Statistics show that ethnic plastic surgery is on the rise, with ethnic patients making up approximately 21% of all cosmetic procedures. Nose reshaping (rhinoplasty) ranked among the top three procedures for Asian-American and Latino groups. Statistics also show the number of African-American rhinoplasty procedures is up 10% in 2011 from 2010.

Dr. Whiteman urges cosmetic surgery patients to always ask questions regarding the procedure and the surgeon’s experience during their consultation, as well as review rhinoplasty before and after photos. For ethnic patients, it is important to find a plastic surgeon thoroughly skilled and experienced working with a diverse patient base.
