Assurant Announces Two Executive Appointments

NEW YORK, Aug. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Assurant, Inc. ("Assurant") (NYSE: AIZ), a premier provider of specialty insurance and insurance-related products and services, announced today that Jane Meyer has been appointed senior vice president, human resources, and Allen Walker has been appointed senior vice president, organizational development and corporate communications effective immediately. Both positions are newly created.

Both Ms. Meyer and Mr. Walker will continue to report to Assurant executive vice president Lesley Silvester. In their new roles, Ms. Meyer will lead Assurant's corporate human resources activities, while Mr. Walker will head the company's organizational development initiatives, as well as corporate internal and external communications.

Ms. Meyer, 59, joined Assurant in 1993 and has progressively expanded her responsibilities. Most recently, as vice president, human resources, Ms. Meyer played a lead role in several strategic human resources initiatives. In particular, she led the human resource integration initiatives for Assurant's Finance, Legal, Corporate Technology and Risk Advisory Services groups. Ms. Meyer e
