Date:11/20/2009

y improvement.

The Ashikari Breast Center provides its patients with access to the latest and most advanced medical technology in a warm and compassionate environment. The Center is headed by renowned surgical oncologist Roy Ashikari, M.D., FACS, the former Chief of Breast Service at Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, along with his son Andrew Ashikari, M.D., FACS, and Pond Kelemen, M.D., FACS.

"We are deeply honored and pleased to have earned this important national designation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. Achieving this goal is the result of many years of hard work by our dedicated staff," said Roy H. Ashikari, M.D., FACS, founder of the Ashikari Breast Center. "We thank the Hospital and its staff for its encouragement and support and look forward to continuing our life-saving work."

The Ashikari Breast Center also offers patients access to a highly qualified group of physicians including surgical oncologists, anesthesiologists, diagnostic radiologists, medical oncologists, pathologists, plastic surgeons, radiation oncologists, physician assistants and patient navigators. The medical team at the Ashikari Breast Center pioneered the one-stage prophylactic subcutaneous mastectomy with immediate reconstruction, which has resulted in excellent outcomes with high-risk patients.

In addition to its high resolution ultrasound and digital mammography, the Ashikari Breast Center recently acquired a new state-of-the-art MRI with a dedicated breast coil that provides enhanced imaging for its patients. The new stereotactic breast table uses mammography to guide a surgeon to an abnormal growth, as opposed to locating the lesion by hand
