Michael H. Weisman, MD, is Director of the Division of Rheumatology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Professor of Medicine at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, and Professor Emeritus of Medicine at the UCSD School of Medicine. His academic and research interests involve the genetic risk, epidemiology, treatment and outcome of rheumatic diseases, including clinical trials, outcomes research and health services research and genetic susceptibility/severity studies of patients with chronic rheumatic disease. He currently is an investigator for National Institutes of Health-sponsored studies in systemic lupus erythematosus, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Dr. Weisman has published more than 200 peer-reviewed papers and four books. Born in Los Angeles, he attended medical school at the University of Chicago and completed his internship, residency and fellowship in rheumatology at UCSD School of Medicine.
