This ensures day-long freshness and that food does not get stuck in between teeth. According to Dr. Kanani, it does not matter if one uses a manual or electric toothbrush, rather what matters is how the brushing is done. When done properly, there is no reason why gum disease should set it.

2.    Eat Wisely
What one eats will directly play a role in one’s overall health, and teeth and gums are no exception. There is no denying that a healthy diet that comprises of vegetables, fruits and whole grains is good for health. Getting proper nutrition on a daily basis is important to avoid tooth decay. If one is worried about bad breath, Dr. Kanani recommends munching on a celery stick. Snacking right before bed is not recommended, especially if the snacks contain sugar. Ensure to brush one’s teeth right after if any form of snacking takes place.    

3.    Regular Dental Checkups
Do not underestimate the power of regularly visiting the dentist. Aside from getting the dentist to check for cavities and signs of gingivitis, it is recommended that the dentist also conducts teeth cleaning to remove any plaque buildup. However, once gingivitis or periodontitis sets it, dental implants need to be considered and judging by dental implant cost, it is always best to avoid having to go through that if possible.
