Vice-Chair of Surgery and Co-Chair of the Cancer Committee at Newtown Medical Center, Dr. Michelle O’Shea, recently organized and sponsored a breast cancer survivor event, “Celebrate You,” on June 8th at Project Self-Sufficiency in Newton, NJ. Sussex County breast cancer survivors were invited to a unique celebration of life on Saturday, June 8th. This event featured cooking demos, kickboxing classes, health and wellness information, music, and a free lunch. The event had a keynote speaker regarding dealing with a cancer diagnosis, demonstration sessions on exercise, healthy cooking, and bone health.
Summit Breast Care surgeon, Dr. Michelle O’Shea, goes above and beyond for her breast cancer patients. Not only does she provide the utmost professional and quality care for her patients, Dr. O’Shea dedicates many of her non-office hours to spread awareness and uplift the spirits of her valued patients.
Trained in General Surgery, Dr. O’Shea has focused exclusively on breast surgery since 2001. She received her Doctorate of Medicine at University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ –New Jersey Medical School. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology/Chemistry at The College of Saint Elizabeth where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.
Dr. O’Shea has received many honors, published articles, and has spoken several dozen times on her areas of expertise. Dr. O’Shea has also pursued further training in ultrasound guided breast biopsy, stereotactic breast biopsy, sentinel node biopsy and oncoplastic surgical techniques. She has completed a specialty course in mammogram and ultrasound evaluation.
